Tug of War Day– February 19, 2022

If your only introduction to the video game of tug of war was at summer camp or in primary school, you remain in desperate requirement to celebrate Tug of War Day on February 19. Tug of war has matured from the days of your youth. In addition to having its own holiday, tug of war has nationwide and global federations that sponsor worldwide competitions. And there are guidelines … lots of them.Fortunately, the global federation’s tug of war rules don’t need to apply to you if you’ve chosen to relive your youth and find a tug of war video game nearby. Tug of war is one of the simplest games to play. All you need is a long rope and anywhere from a few individuals to dozens of people. Heck, you can even play individually tug of war with a brief rope and your pet. (Simply be prepared to lose; pet dogs are naturals at this video game.) To play tug of war, put the rope in the middle of a field. Connect a cloth in the middle. Establish marker lines 10-20 feet from the center. Then divided into teams and try to pull the cloth on the rope (and the other group by default) across your marker line. Basic enough. It’s great for constructing muscles and for enjoyable. And be happy that you do not play tug of war the method ancient Vikings did, where they yanked on animal pelts stretched over a fire pit. The game’s losers got a hotfoot … or even worse if they were unlucky.

Attend a tug of war competition.
Authorities tug of war tournaments– yes, we stated authorities– are held throughout the world during the year. The Tug of War International Federation and United States Tug of War Association website both have lists of tournaments held throughout the year. And if you didn’t understand tug of war games were formally regulated throughout the world … well, don’t feel bad. You aren’t alone.

Play tug of war with people.
Tug of war is so easy to establish and play that lots of small-town carnivals and other events will include tug of war games … frequently in a field of mud. Wish to prove to your boss that you’re taking part in group building workouts? Persuade your colleagues to sign up with a tug of war group at one of these celebrations. Because of your aching muscles, and maybe the manager will take it simple on you on Monday.

As unlikely as it appears, ABC utilized to run a TV sports series in the 1970s and 1980s pitting the World Series and Super Bowl participants in a SuperTeams competition. During their off-season, the baseball and football players would get involved with their teammates in sports such as biking, swimming, rowing, and tug of war. There were some epic tug of war fights between these teams, consisting of a 75-minute battle between the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Royals in 1978. Can you imagine millionaire professional athletes risking injury (like hand burns) in the off-season these days by participating in a tug of war game? Neither can we.

WHY WE LOVE TUG OF WAR DAY.
Tug of war go back in time … way back.
Although tug of war does not have a main date of creation, it’s apparent from ancient illustrations that versions of tug of war have actually existed for thousands of years. Egypt, China, India, Japan, Korea, Hawaii, and Greece all have a history of tug of war video games. In some cases, participants would hold a stick instead of a rope. And sometimes they ‘d pull and interlock arms on each other. Ouch.

It’s an easy video game to play.
Among the best aspects of tug of war is that it’s a basic game. You just require a length of rope and a group of people. You don’t have to have a specific length of rope and you do not need a specific variety of individuals. Using gloves to protect versus rope burn is an excellent idea though.

It’s excellent exercise.
Tug of war can be a good way to develop muscle and core strength as part of an exercise routine. Warriors in China trained using tug of war as early as the eighth century B.C. And if that was good enough for ancient warriors to prepare for battle, tug of war can be good enough as part of your modern battle against the bulge.
