However instead of getting captured in a heavy downpour without an umbrella, what if there were a group of unique people who could provide us a hint ahead of time? That’s why we commemorate National Weatherperson’s Day every year on February 5– on the birthday of John Jeffries, among the very first weather observers to take everyday measurements (back in 1774). The day honors individuals in the fields of meteorology, weather forecasting and broadcast meteorology, along with volunteer storm spotters and observers.
